Inexpensive, Original Art that Perfectly Matches Your Color Scheme
Have you ever left a wall bare because you couldn't find a piece of art that works well with the colors of your room? Well, here's a great solution.
Go to you local art supply store and pick up a blank canvas (or get one here). Buy a little paint in colors that match your room scheme. Wall paint is fine (you may even have some left over from when you painted the room). The Behr Website has a tool that will help you pick complimentary colors. I used paintbrushes from a home improvement store.
Put a couple of base coats on the canvas- use a color that contrasts the wall color. Let the base coats dry. Then, grab your son or daughter and have them paint whatever they want using your preselected paint colors. Have them sign and date the art.
If you don't have children, nieces, or nephews, you can paint yourself. You can make it look very abstract (paint splatters or random brush strokes) or go with a geometrical pattern. If you have pets, maybe you can think of a way to get them involved.
That's it! Hang your art and show it off.
Here is a piece that our three year old made. This is in a small bathroom that was painted in teal with chocolate brown accents.
